New Wines, New Adventures

In 2022, we’ve released 2 new Aviatrix wines - 2019 Grenache and 2016 Blanc de Noir Sparkling Wine!

Over the years, many people have asked us if/when we will produce a sparkling wine, and we’re thrilled to say the day has finally arrived. Aged on the lees since 2016, this Brut Rose is complex, dry, and utterly delightful. It also marks the debut of our fantastic new Art Deco-inspired label (art by Ryder Richards). We hope you enjoy celebrating special moments with our latest Aviatrix adventure.

The 2019 vintage of Grenache marks the the third release of our original varietal for Aviatrix. It’s a wonderful medium weight red that is quite versatile with food pairings, and can be served at room temp or even slightly chilled to enjoy during the late summer heat.

We look forward to sharing these new wines with you!

Aviatrix 2018: 2 new wines to explore

We are so excited to bring you the third vintage of AVIATRIX – this time, with 2 wines! For 2018 vintage releases, we have our second bottling of Grenache (previously made in 2016), as well as our 2018 Primitivo, featuring the same grapes as Heidi’s La Sirena Rosato, but made into a red wine. It’s totally different than our previous releases of Aviatrix and yet, equally delicious. We love these wines & think you will too!

Aviatrix Grenache is a graceful, well-balanced red that’s a great addition to any cellar. This year we sourced fruit from a new vineyard in the El Dorado AVA in the foothills of California. It has a surprising amount of complexity and depth in a lighter weight red, making it quite versatile. This Grenache is similar in style to and inspired by the classic wines of the Rhone region in France, with the beautiful ripeness California wines are known for.

Our Aviatrix Primitivo is an intriguing wine similar in style to Zinfandel - in fact, some consider them to be the same grape. To us, it does seem distinct from a Zin, so check it out for yourself - because this wine is seriously delicious! It will be an absolutely perfect summer BBQ wine for the heartier fare like ribs and tri-tip, and add a voluptuous note to other food pairings. Velvety, fruit-forward and compelling, we love this Primitivo - try it side by side with the La Sirena Rosato for an interesting (and tasty) comparison, because they are in fact made from the same vineyard.

Other news: Chelsea is doing great as winemaker at Materra, so be sure to check out their lineup of wines. We’ve also had a lot of fantastic releases over at La Sirena this past season - of special note is the first vintage of Studio Series by La Sirena, featuring art both inside & outside the bottle by Heidi.

We will have more news of upcoming wines and plans for the label soon - Thanks so much for supporting and following us. Cheers from Heidi, Remi & Chelsea!

Aviatrix: Our Second Voyage

We’re back with our long-awaited second release of Aviatrix - this time, it’s a blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, and a pinch of Cab Franc. It’s totally different from our first release but equally delicious! Our 2017 Aviatrix Red Wine is a silky, bold blend that we hope will inspire you to soar. Thank you so much to everyone who supported our first release and made it a success! Sharing Aviatrix Grenache with wine lovers around the world has been a joy for us, and we look forward to sharing the new release with our friends and fans.

In other news, as of 2019, Chelsea is now winemaker at Materra Winery in Yountville! Her first round of wines there are being released now and are tasting fantastic. Check them out!

Aviatrix Takes Flight

We are so excited to bring you a brand new wine - AVIATRIX Grenache. The first-ever wine collaboration between La Sirena winemaker/owner Heidi Barrett and her two daughters, winemaker Chelsea Barrett, and sales/marketing director Remi Barrett. Aviatrix Grenache is dedicated to the intrepid women throughout the history of aviation, who surpass society's expectations and limitations to soar to new heights. We hope you enjoy this mother-daughter collaboration as much as we enjoyed making it.

Heidi and Remi have been working together on Heidi's brand, La Sirena, since 2010. Meanwhile, Chelsea has been making wine for Joel Gott Wines since 2012, and previously interned at Opus One, Two Hands (Barossa Valley, Australia), and Mayer am Pfarplatz (Vienna, Austria). Chelsea is a very talented winemaker in her own right and we're thrilled to have her involved in a new La Sirena project! Our hope is that over time Aviatrix will become an exciting new brand for inventive, delicious wines that appeal to wine lovers of all ages.
